Live-in care or 24-hour care

Private Care offers live-in care or 24-hour care to support your loved one 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Services in the live-in care or 24-hour programs can be provided by a live-in carer or by a live-in nurse.

Live in Care

A live in carer lives in the home of your loved one and assists them with housework, personal care, going outside, mobility and other needs they may have. This service is not active shift 24-hours per day. The live in carer needs reasonable breaks and rest and to get a reasonably uninterrupted sleep every night.

24-hour Care

Home care services are provided 24-hours per day on an active shift basis. Different carers will come over the course of the day to perform the relevant duties that your loved one requires.

Common reasons for choosing live-in care services

There is no one reason that people choose live-in care or 24-hour care. Live-in care is sometimes selected for convenience and peace of mind. For others it is a necessity due to injury, disability, a health event, illness, or age related decline. Live-in care services are also ideal for family carers who need a break for a weekend away or a short holiday.

Convenience and peace of mind
With live-in care you can have someone available whenever you need help or support.
Live-in carers can assist with:

  • housework
  • personal care
  • meal preparation
  • monitoring of medications
  • shopping
  • transport
  • other needs as required

You and your loved one can have the utmost peace of mind by having a professional live-in carer to take care of your daily needs.

During an injury
Serious physical injury or brain injury can result in a significant short-term or permanent loss of function. Live-in care can be provided on a short-term basis to assist while rehabilitation occurs. It can also be provided on a long-term basis for permanent needs. In some cases 24-hour care is needed with carers or nursing staff rostered to provide active support 24 hours per day.

Disability
Serious physical or mental disability can restrict the ability of a person to care for their needs and participate to the fullest extent in our community. Private Care can provide a live-in carer who can help people with a disability. They can help people to achieve their goals and participate in a meaningful way in their community.

In the event of an illness
Serious health events or illness can result in hospitalisation and a loss of function and independence. Live-in care services can help during periods of rehabilitation or on an ongoing basis where the loss of function is permanent. You may also require 24-hour care services on a short-term basis or permanent basis if your needs are very complex.

Age related decline
No matter how active we have been through our lives, aging can lead to a decline in our physical or mental health and independence. A live-in carer can enable older people to have the best possible quality of life. Give yourself and your family peace of mind by getting a live-in carer.

Live-in respite
Live-in respite can enable your loved one who is caring for you to take a break and look after their needs, have a few days away or take a holiday. Private Care will provide a live-in carer or live-in nurse to care and support you while your loved one is away. Some short-term services can be arranged in the lead-up to the live-in respite to ensure that you respond well to the Private Care live-in carers.
